Additional documents:

Minutes:

The Scrutiny Panel considered the Chair’s draft report.

The main points of discussion were as follows: -

·             That the inclusion of details of intervention needed to be incorporated into the management of the hate crime process, as intervention details would not be known at reporting stage.

·             The Hate Crime Champion should be included in the reporting process and the approach to Partners concerning the most effective way of ensuring hate crime reporting across Agencies.

·             Annual refresher training on Hate Crime should be for relevant frontline staff only.

·             The draft recommendation on the issues regarding taxis and private hire vehicles is an operational matter and therefore will be pursued by officers

AGREED

(1) That the recommendations of the final report be confirmed as attached as Annex 1 to the minutes.

(2) That the report of Scrutiny Panel 1 (Hate Crime) be presented to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee at its meeting on 26th March 2012.   The report will then be presented to Cabinet at its meeting on 9th May 2012.
