We the undersigned petition the council to To erect a scaffolding structure around the Eleanor Cross, Hardinstone , with a sheet metal roof to protect the top & netting around the sides to protect the Cross from the worst of the Winter weather until repairs can be carried out in the Spring,possibly using the same scaffolding

After a struggle to get the Borough council to agree they were responsible for the Cross , they have been granted funds by Historic England (HE) to repair the Cross, 1 of only 3 remaining in the Country, & which both the Council & HE needed to be carried out URGENTLY in the Autumn, has now been postponed until the Spring .I therefore propose a protective structure be erected to defend the Cross from the Winter weather & reduce further damage before repairs can be undertaken.
