The Head of Business Change submitted a report and commented that this was the first monitoring report that had been bought to the General Purposes Committee. She explained that Health and Safety training was a high priority for the Council and commented that training had been developed in order to be service specific where necessary to ensure it was relevant and robust.

In answer to questions asked by the Committee, it was explained that employees were, to a degree, responsible for their own health and safety, alongside managers who would promote good health and safety practices. With regards to ill health, it was noted that the Council looked to prevent work-related illnesses and risk assessments were carried out to reduce any contributory factors. The Committee were informed that records of staff training were kept and staff members undertook refresher courses.

                        That the committee approved the monitoring information.
