Exclusion of Public and Press

The Chair to Move:

“that the public and press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there is likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph of Schedule 12a to such act.”

Minutes:

The Chair moved that the Public and Press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there was likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by Section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph of Schedule 12A to such Act.

 

The Motion was Carried.

Private Hire Driver - New Application

Minutes:

The Licensing Enforcement Officer outlined the circumstances as set out in the report.

 

The Committee heard the representations made and reached a decision with regard to any further action to be taken,

 

DECISION:

 

The committee decided by a majority that on a balance of probability the Applicant was a fitand proper person to be licensed as private hire driver and he was therefore granted a license.

The Licensing Enforcement Officer outlined the circumstances as set out in the report.

 

The Committee heard the representations made and reached a decision with regard to any further action to be taken,

 

RESOLVED:

 

The Committee decided unanimously that on a balance of probability the Applicant was not a fitand proper person to be licensed as private hire driver and therefore refused the license application.

9.

Review of Combined Driver Licence

Minutes:

The Licensing Enforcement Officer outlined the circumstances as set out in the report.and explained that the licence holder had been provided notice of the hearing.  The committee decided that the licence holder had not provided a satisfactory explanation for not attending the committee and the committee decided unanimously to proceed with the hearing in his absence.

 

The Committee reached a decision with regard to any further action to be taken. 

 

RESOLVED:

 

The Committee decided unanimously that on a balance of probability the Applicant was not a fitand proper person to continue to be licensed as private hire driver and therefore the license was revoked.immediately pursuant to Section 61 (2B) Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.  This power was exercised in the interests of public safety
