Minutes:

An apology was received from Councillor Eales.

 

Councillors Malpas (Chair), Conroy, Marriott, Mennell and Stone were not required as they had not sat on the Committee at its meeting on 8 July 2014, when the case for consideration on this agenda had been deferred to this meeting.

The Private Hire Driver and the Private Hire Operator and Controller were given leave to address the Committee as set out in the confidential part of these minutes.

Exclusion of Public and Press

The Chair to Move:

“that the public and press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there is likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph of Schedule 12a to such act.”

 

Please note:  Item 6 below was deferred from the additional meeting of the Committee held on 8 July 2014 to allow further information to be gathered.  The members of the Committee who considered the case on 8 July 2014 asked that the deferred case be considered by those same members again and not be the full Committee.  Accordingly, only Councillors Duncan, Eales, Hibbert, Hill, Larratt and Sargeant are asked to attend this meeting.

The Chair moved that the public and press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there was likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to paragraph (1) of Schedule 12A to such act.”

 

The Motion was Carried.

6.

Application for a Private Hire Driver's Licence

Minutes:

The matter had been considered at the previous meeting of the Committee, held on 8 July 2014, and deferred until this meeting to allow further information to be collected in order to make a decision on the case.

 

The driver confirmed that he had received the additional paperwork requested by the Committee and the Senior Licensing Officer outlined the additional information as set out in the report.

 

The Committee heard the representations made and reached a decision with regard to any further action to be taken.

 

RESOLVED:

 

That the driver’s Private Hire Driver’s Licence be revoked.
