Apologies had been received from Councillors R Conroy, Duncan, I Markham,  Matthews, Tavener and Taylor.

The Minutes of the meeting held on 10^th June 2008 were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chair.

There were none.

Councillor Choudary declared a personal and prejudicial interest in relation to Item 15, “Review of a Private Hire Driver’s Licence” as he was acquainted with the driver concerned.

There were none.

The Chair to Move:

“that the public and press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there is likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph of Schedule 12a to such act.”

The Chair moved that the Public and Press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there was likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by Section 100(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 as listed against such items of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph of Schedule 12A to such Act.

The Motion was Carried.

RESOLVED

That the private hire licence be suspended for a period of six weeks.

The Committee, being satisfied that proper and adequate notice had been given to the driver about the hearing, agreed to hear the representations in his absence.  They then reached a decision based on the evidence produced in the report.

1. That no action be taken in relation to the Driver’s private hire licence.
2. That the Committee recommend the revocation of the licence in the event of the driver committing any similar offences in the future.
