Apologies were received from the Mayor and Councillors Beardsworth, Capstick, S Chaudhury, Church, Collins, Crake, De Cruz, Flavell, Hadland, Hawkins, Lane, J Lill, Malpas, B Markham, I Markham, Matthews, Meredith, Mildren, Scott, Simpson, P M Varnsverry and Yates.

“THAT THE PUBLIC BE EXCLUDED FROM THE REMAINDER OF THE MEETING ON THE GROUNDS THAT THERE IS LIKELY TO BE DISCLOSURE TO THEM OF SUCH CATEGORIES OF EXEMPT INFORMATION AS DEFINED BY SECTION 100(1) OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972 AS ARE LISTED AGAINST SUCH ITEM OR ITEMS OF BUSINESS BY REFERENCE TO THE APPROPRIATE PARAGRAPH OF SCHEDULE 12A TO SUCH ACT.”

The Mayor moved “That the public be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that there was likely to be disclosure to them of such categories of exempt information as defined by Section 100(I) of the Local Government Act 1972 as were listed against such item of business by reference to the appropriate paragraph as Schedule 12A to such Act.”

The motion was carried.

Councillor Woods submitted a report, which sought a dispensation for Councillor M Hoare in respect of her non-attendance at Council meetings due to ill health.  Councillor Palethorpe seconded the proposal.

RESOLVED: (1) That Council for the purposes of Section 85 of the Local Government Act 1972 approve Councillor M Hoare’s non-attendance at any meeting of the Council for a period of six months from 1 September 2009.

                        (2) That the Council’s best wishes be passed on to Councillor M Hoare and her family.
