Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Acock, Allen, Boss, Hollis, Mason, Patterson, Perkins and Robonson.

Honorary Freedom of the Borough - Northampton Rugby Football Club (The Saints)

Minutes:

The motion as printed on the agenda was moved by Councillor Wire and seconded by Councillors Larratt and B Markham.

 

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY:

That this Council does hereby bestow the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Northampton upon the Northampton Rugby Football Club Limited (The Saints) in appreciation and in recognition of the contribution to the life of the Borough which the club has made since its founding in 1880; recognising also the outstanding services rendered by those of the Club’s players and officials who have over the years won the highest honours I the sport; and as an expression of the high esteem and regard in which the Club is held; do admit the Club to Freedom of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

 

Northampton Rugby Football Club (The Saints) was then admitted to the Freedom in due form and Mr Keith Barwell, Chariman of Northampton Rugby Football Club was presented on behalf of the Club with a certificate of Freedom contained in a silver casket.
